Morris Area Genealogy Society
Knowing your family history and heritage is becoming more and more important these days for a lot of different reasons. So in order to give you an advantage of knowing where and how to look, the Morris Area Genealogy Society and the Morris County Library have set up workshops to give you the know how. The meetings will take place from now until May and will be on the first Tuesday of each month at 6:45PM at the Morris County Library located at 30 East Hanover Avenue in Whippany. Refreshments and a sharing table will be provided prior to the meeting at 6:30PM. The Preschool Advantage’s Tuition Assistance
Are you a family who would like to send your child to preschool, but cannot afford to? The Preschool Advantage’s Tuition Assistance in Morristown, NJ wants to help you. Applications must be received by February 28 to be considered for tuition assistance at one of our partner preschools. Children must only be between the ages of 3 and 4 years-old by October 1, 2012. In order to qualify, the family must demonstrate financial need by completing an application and including a copy of the parents’ recent income tax return and W-2s. Preschool Advantage funds a half-day program, 2-5 days a week, during the school year for qualified families. Applications are available and can be downloaded from the website http://www.preschooladvantage.org or please contact the Preschool Advantage office at 973-532-2501 for assistance.

Beatlemania Again!
The Roxbury High School Band is putting on a benefit concert on February 4, 2012 titled ‘Beatlemania Again!’ The show will be performed by The National Touring Beatles Stage Show! The proceeds will go to benefit the Roxbury High School Band in all of their activities, including the 2012 Music for All National Festival in Indianapolis, Indiana where they are one of fourteen bands in the nation to perform! The concert will be held at the Roxbury High School Auditorium, 1 Bryant Drive in Succasunna. Doors are at 6:30 PM and the show starts at 7:30 PM. Morris County Historical Society
The Morris County Historical Society is holding its annual President’s Membership Tea on Sunday February 12th. Every year the event is held to give the public the opportunity to learn more about the Historical Society and its members. This year there will also be a tour of the 19th century house museum and the exhibit “Over Here and Over There,” Which details Morris County and the rest of New Jersey’s role in World War II. The admission for the day is $6 for general admission, $5 for seniors and $3 for students. The event will be held at the Acorn Hall which is located at 68 Morris Avenue in Morristown. Keeping Kids Safe Project
Join the Keeping Kids Safe Project on February 17th and 18th in West New York for their child safety fair. At the events the child safety organization will provide parents with the opportunity to have their child’s fingerprints taken along with their photograph which can be given to any authority for records protecting their child’s well-being. Community organizations will also be present to provide safety information and entertainment for families. The fair will be taking place at the Hudson Honda dealership at 6608 Kennedy Blvd. from 3PM-7PM on Friday and 10AM-4PM on Saturday.

Habitat for Humanity 7th Annual “Hearts & Hammers” Gala

A Day for Daniel
The 4th Annual Day for Daniel will be held on Sunday February 19th, 2012 from 2pm-6pm and the Mount Holleran Towne Tavern located at 450 North Beverwyck Road in Parsippany. Proceeds will help curtail medical expenses for the Gaudreau Family after their son, Daniel, suffered brain damage after a severe asthma attack. S.I.P. Kids is a nation child safety organization who tours the country providing free digital finger prints for children. The Keeping Kids Safe Project is coming to Springfield to host its 4th Annual free child safety fair. Fingerprinting is a key factor in helping law enforcement track kids that become missing. Stuffed Animal Sleepover
On Saturday March 31, from 4pm to 5pm the Museum of Early Trades and Crafts is hosting a stuffed animal sleepover for young kids, between the ages of two and six. Parents are encouraged to bring their children over for story time and snack and children can bring their favorite stuffed animal to tuck in for a night at the museum. The next day, on Sunday,April first, they can come back between the hours of noon and 5pm to pick-up their stuffed animal and find out what kind of trouble the stuffed animals got into over the night! Museum is admission is $5 for adults, $3 for seniors and children under six years of age are free. The Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday 10am. to 4pm and Sunday Noon to 5pm.
